1. Gatsby told Nick he earned a metal for valor in WW1 before he was good , he also tells him all about his past.
2. Jordan told Nick of how Gatsby and Daisy used to be hella inlove before he went to war, Gatsby said he'd return to her but he never did. So Daisy ended up marrying Tom, even though she doesn't really love him.

After reading the story my only response to it is that it's so mind blowing that a butterfly could change the past into a future.

Self reliance

What I read I felt like Emerson sees people as followersand them not being there own people. He also talks to much about religion. A quote I didn't understand was "Let not God speak to us, lest we die. Speak thou, speak any man with us, and we will obey.' "
